Our Beliefs

New Journey is a nondenominational (or interdenominational) church.

We recognize that people may come from varied expressions of the Christian faith or have no faith history at all before coming to New Journey. We all bring with us our unique traditions and expressions from our journeys.


In essentials, unity. In non-essentials we have liberty. In all things we have love!

We have a few core beliefs and that is on purpose! Some churches have a very extensive lists of their beliefs. We have chosen to limit ours to a few core beliefs that define us as a church and shows our common links to the historic Christian faith.

About God...

We believe that there is one True, Living God. We believe that God exists eternally in three persons; the Father, the Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit and each are equal in power and glory. This triune God created all, upholds all and governs all. God is relentless in his pursuit of a personal, eternal and intimate relationship with us, His children.

About Jesus...

We believe that Jesus Christ, God’s son, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, was born of a virgin, lived a pure and sinless life and passionately pursued the will of the Father. We believe that Jesus came to preach the good news to the poor, set the captives free and mend the brokenness we experience in this life. We believe that Jesus was rejected by many, was crucified, buried and rose again. We believe that through Christ’s death and resurrection, hope entered the equation and Jesus became the bridge that humanity has back to the family of God. Jesus is the center of our faith and we look to his life and teaching as a blueprint for life. As Lord, we believe Jesus brings salvation and a call for those who follow him to live the beautiful kingdom of God by loving others and being people of compassion.

About the Holy Spirit...

We believe that the Holy Spirit dwells in every follower of Jesus Christ and that the Spirit is an abiding Helper, Teacher and Guide; empowering for ministry all who follow Christ. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the Biblical gifts of the Spirit. (John 14 & 16; Acts 2; Romans 8; I Cor. 12 - 14)

About the Bible...

We believe that the Scriptures, both Old and New Testament, are God inspired. We believe that on its pages we not only find stories of faith from days gone by, but also, through the leading of the Holy Spirit, inspiration to live out a vibrant faith in our own lives. We view the Bible through the lens of Jesus; following him is our primary foundation and the Scriptures give us the guidance we need to do that!

About the Church...

We believe that the church in its larger context is the beautiful tapestry of all those who follow Jesus, a living spiritual body of believers, of which Christ is the Head and all those who follow Jesus as Lord are members of the body. We practice the ordinances of baptism (Believer's Baptism) and the Lord’s Supper (Communion/Holy Eucharist). We believe the church is called to engage the culture and through the message of Jesus reach out to a hurting world. We believe that God works through the church to bring His family together. We believe that every single person on earth is beloved of God.


While this broader understanding of the Church is comprised of many denominations and expressions, the local expression (or the local church as some refer to it) is each individual congregation or parish that gathers as a community of faith to do life together and to share their faith journey with one another. As a local church, New Journey is a non-denominational or inter-denominational church, meaning we are not associated with a particular denomination. Another way to put it is that we see value from many various denominations and embrace a way of following Jesus that is not tied to one particular set of denominational practices or framework; celebrating the rich diversity of the Christian faith with roots in the ancient past and branches stretched forth into the future.
